Don't go to Cork.

This weekend Nora, Shaina, Jaye, Anne and I went to Cork. We took a 4 hour bus ride to get down there. It wasn't too bad at all and we were able to find our hostle really easily. Cork the county is very nice and I had a very good time in the surrounding areas. Cork city itself, though, is awful. It's infested with 16-17 year olds, there's no live music, all pubs seem to be old man hang outs and everything closes around 8. So we got there and checked into our hostle and tried to go out, but we couldn't find too good of a place so we ended up going home pretty early.

I was in a hostle room with Jaye, and I was really glad to be sharing with her. We were also with 4 other people. One Canadian girl, two Italian guys, and one Australian guy. It was pretty awkward I guess, but the hostle was nice and gave us breakfast. So the first day we adventured out to Cobh, a little fishing village on the coast, and also the last place the Titanic stopped before it left. So they had a Titanic museum there, but of course it was closed so we just wandered around the town. The town was really cute and we had a good time there. Also had the best burger I've had in Ireland in Cobh and talked to some girls who were probably about 14 who thought we were Polish. Strange.

We stopped at this little island called Fota on the way in and it was cool. They had some areas to do some nature walks, but the main draw for going to Fota was the animal park. Nora, Jaye and I didn't go to the animal park though, because it was 9 Euros, and we've seen animals before.

That night we got home and went to the hostle, went out for pizza, tried to find a good pub again, couldn't, and wen't back to the hostle and played board games. Awesome. Downtown Cork is like a giant mall, and is very American-ized. Lame. The next morning, we went to the Blarney Castle. It was cool and there was lots of caves and lots of good things to climb on and/or in. I had some fun doing that until I got thorns all in my hand, and I can still feel my hand throbbing today. After the Blarney castle we went to a little cafe in the town of Blarney and it was really cute and they had very delicious muffins. We then took the bus back to Cork and then took another bus back to beautiful Galway. Jaye and I were so happy to get back to Menlo! Here are some pictures of our weekend in Cork...

The little gap at the top of the castle is where you kiss the Blarney stone at.

These ads are probably my favorite part of Ireland.

I want them in my house.
Jill is coming for a visit on Friday and I can't wait to have her here! So I guess I will have some pictures of that. Then the weekend after that I am going on the Christian Society retreat, and the weekend after that I am going to Paris! So lots of fun things coming up! Miss you all.
