CU Ball!

This weekend was the All CU Ball in Dublin. It was so much fun! Sinead, Nathan, Helena, and I took the bus from Galway on Friday afternoon and 4 lovely hours later we arrived in Dublin. After getting a little bit lost we found our way to the church we were supposed to be, and we were the first group to arrive. We noticed there was a pool table, and I suggested we play Cut Throat or Mystery Ball, but the balls were just red and yellow and not numbered so we couldn't play either of those games. That was a little disappointing, since I'm such a champion pool player and wanted to take my skills international, but they did have a Wii. So we played Wii Golf and Wii Tennis. I lost at golf, but won a few times at tennis. Then after that the Limerick people showed up and we all started to get ready and stuff. Angela, who has visited me a few times in Galway, was there there and I had a really good time seeing her again.

So we all got ready in this church, and then walked over to the hotel that the ball was at together. The hotel was very nice and the room we were in was really fancy. Actually the whole ball was really fancy. Many of the girls were wearing full ball gowns, and lots of the boys were wearing tuxes. We got dinner beef stroganoff for dinner with rice and potatos and salad and chocolate cake for desert. It was very delicious! Then a band played for a few songs and then the DJ stayed on until really late. It was so much fun. There was a dance contest and each school had to have a representative in it. Luckily, (for me and everyone else) I was not our representative. I'll post a video of the dance contest at the bottom, it was pretty funny. I'm pretty sure the Irish are not famous for their dance skills for a reason.

The music ended about 2:30 and by the time we left to walk home it was about 3 AM. We went back to the church and had tea before bed. All the girls slept downstairs in the church playroom. Aside from being cold, I was actually really comfortable, because I used one of those cushy mats that they use to build obstacle courses for kids as a pillow. We went to sleep around 4 and then got up not too much later for breakfast, and then we just hung out until 1 when we had lunch with a lot of people, and then some fellowship. In the church I saw that they had a ping pong table that I didn't know was there before. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to play it, so just one more thing I haven't gotten to take my skills international in. We got the 5 o'clock bus back to Galway, and we all got our own seats which was grand. All in all it was a really great weekend! Next weekend: London, Bath and Oxford!

Me and Helena, she is from Finland.
Nathan, international supermodel and fashion icon, obviously.

Tyrone, from South Africa, in one of the best "shake face" pictures ever.

We were practicing different faces...this was "job interview".

Genuine smile on my face, haha. Helena, me, Nathan.

Teaching the Irish folks some gang signs is going well.

Me and Nathan.

Yellow shirt kid. The only one not dressed up.

This is where I slept. Note the slanty pillow in the house. Yes, I did sleep with my head in the playhouse. Mark loaned me his sleeping bag, thank goodness!

The girl that won was in the yellow dress. I thought the breakdancer was better, personally.
